Title: Developing Clinical Decision Rules Using aNewly Formed Registry
Speaker: Rhonda Rosychuk (University of Alberta)
Abstract:
The discovery of the SARS-CoV-2 viruscaused a flurry of medical research funding and studies dedicated tocoronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The Canadian COVID-19 Emergency DepartmentRapid Response Network (CCEDRRN) was formed as a national collaboration toharmonize data collection related to COVID-19 and enable well-powered studiesof COVID-19 that promote evidence-based clinical decision making. I will discusssome of the challenges and opportunities working on a large registry dataprogram during a pandemic. I will describe the process that we followed todevelop clinical decision rules. Although, we adopted the general approachrecommended in Harrell’s Regression Modeling Strategies book there were manypractical, non-statistical decisions to make.
