Title: Enigma in modeling of COVID-19 and the 1978 influenza in a boarding school
Abstract: In this talk, firstly I will briefly talk about the modelling of the waves of COVID-19 in Manaus Brazil and the effectiveness of the vaccination. Our estimated infection attack rate is much smaller than that in Faria et al Science 2022. I will discuss the reasons. Secondly, in a multiple country study, our estimated effectiveness of the vaccination is also substantially smaller than that in Watson et al Lancet ID 2022. I will discuss the reasons behind this discrepancy. Finally, I will talk about a modelling work of the 1978 influenza outbreak in a boarding school which is called an enigma and challenge. I will explain how we resolve it.
