Title:The role of Stability in Solids with Defects
Abstract: The main purpose of this talk is to demonstrate that, in contrast to fluid behavior, solid behavior is still mysterious because it remains far from clear how to incorporate the impact of defects on solid response. I will propose a possible remedy as a stability principle and will show that it may, or may not, be an adequate tool in solid modeling.
