Many authors have studied inference for truncated Poisson data. But a minimum variance unbiased estimator (MVUE) does not exist for the right truncated case. In this talk we consider a model with the structure
where Y is a Poisson random variable with parameter b, and the X_i's are independent identically distributed double truncated Poisson random variables with parameters (N,M) and l, independent of Y. We say that (Z,Y) has a D compound Poisson distribution. The properties of the D compound Poisson distribution are studied. A MVUE of the probability function of the D compound Poisson distribution is obtained. It is interesting to observe that this UMVUE depends on only three D numbers. The talk will end with an example of the applications of the D compound distribution.
