Topics from Chapters 9-12
Rosner, Fundamentals of Biostatistics, 5th Edition
Updated 2001-03-26
Here are the selected topics from Chapters 9 - 12, in the order we
will cover them in class.
- Sign Test
- 9.2
- One-Way Analysis of Variance (One-Factor Design)
- 12.1 - 12.3 (Fixed effects model only)
- Two-Way Analysis of Variance (Two-Factor design)
- 12.6 (Fixed effects, fully balanced, replication for pure
error, test for interaction)
- Simple Linear Regression
- 11.1 - 11.6 (Plots: fitted line on a scatter plot of the data,
observed versus fitted, residuals versus fitted)
- Multiple Regression
- 11.9 (Plots: observed versus fitted, residuals versus fitted)
- Simple Linear Regression with repeated x-values
- Repeated x-values give an estimate of pure error and a test of
lack of fit, or non-linearity. This topic does not seem to be in
Rosner, but it is useful and reviews one-factor ANOVA, simple
linear regression ANOVA and multiple regression. See
Exercise 4 and the
Simple
Linear Regression with a test for non-linearity worked
example.
- R x C Contingency Tables
- 10.6.1
