Statistics Seminar - James Hanley - Data-analysis in the time of cholera & COVID-19

Description

Title:  Data-analysis in the time of cholera & COVID-19

Speaker: James Hanley (McGill University)

Abstract:  I will present, and comment on, some of the analyses of data from the 1849 Cholera Epidemic in England/London and the South London data from the 1854 Epidemic. I will evaluate the validity of the 'excess mortality' method when applied to the 1849 data, and show applications to the 1918-19 and 2020 Epidemics.
