Title: Sensitivity analysis of a variational data assimilation scheme for the reconstruction of ocean bathymetry

Abstract: We consider a variational data assimilation scheme that optimally reconstructs ocean bathymetry using surface wave observations, and using second order adjoint techniques, we analytically derive the sensitivity of arbitrary response functions (such as the relative error of the optimal reconstruction) to perturbations in the observation.
