Time: 11:45 am
Speaker: Dan Bartl
Title: Wasserstein distance between true and empirical measure
Abstract: I will explain some classical results on the speed of convergence of the Wasserstein distance between true and empirical measure. I will then discuss some variants of the Wasserstein distance on R^d that have been proposed in recent years due to the so-called curse of dimensionality, and focus on one particular variant that has ties to the analysis of certain random matrices.
