Title: Time Scales Theory with an Application to the Logistic Growth Model
Abstract: This talk gives an introduction to time scales, established by Stefan Hilger to unify the continuous and discrete theories. Due to its various time settings, time scales provides a platform for more realistic mathematical models in economics, physics and biology. As an example of dynamic equations on time scales, the logistic dynamic equation is presented. This time scales population model reveals an interesting relation between the well-known logistic growth and the Beverton Holt recurrence. To discuss effects of periodic environment onto the population, a new definition of periodicity on isolated time scales is formulated. The talk finishes with the investigation of the effects of a periodic carrying capacity, also known as Cushing-Henson conjectures.
