Title: Maintenance Policy for a k-out-of-n System
Abstract: In reliability engineering, a maintenance policy refers to the set of technical, engineering, administrative, and managerial actions applied throughout a system’s life cycle to ensure its effective operation. Such policies support decision-making aimed at maintaining a desired operating condition or restoring a failed system to functionality. Depending on the system’s structure, usage patterns, and optimization objectives, researchers have proposed various maintenance strategies. The k-out-of-n system is among the most commonly studied and practically applied system types; it operates successfully if at least k out of its n components function properly. In recent years, considerable attention has been devoted to developing maintenance policies tailored to k-out-of- n systems. This talk is based on joint work with Safaei et al., in which we propose several maintenance strategies, including those that incorporate income from the sale of second-hand components.
