Title: A combinatorial approach to left-orderability and Dehn filling
Abstract: This talk will begin with a review of left-orderability and its expected behaviour with respect to fundamental groups arising from Dehn surgery along a knot in the 3-sphere, assuming the truth of the L-space conjecture. I will aim to introduce a new and straightforward diagrammatic/combinatorial approach towards showing non-left-orderability of manifolds arising from Dehn surgery along certain knots in the 3-sphere. This diagrammatic technique applies to every L-space knot that we’ve tested (many infinite families and all census L-space knots, for example). This is a work in progress with Junyu Lu and Tjay Staruch.
