ANNOUNCEMENTS
4 December 2008 All review sessions will be in CHN B107 (see below for times). The final exam will have 6-10 problems; you must do all of them.
There will be a formula sheet; a copy is posted here
so that you know what to expect. DO NOT BRING THIS FORMULA SHEET INTO
THE EXAM ROOM.
A practice final is posted here.
The practice final is given only as something for you to work on; you
should not expect the real final to be identical in terms of number of
problems or ordering of topics.
The final exam will cover all of the material of the course. The lists
of topics for each midterm is a good guide for what to study for the
final exam (as well as chapter 7, of course). Here is a partial
list
of topics that you do not need to know:
-the definition of e; the change of base theorem for logs
-the squeeze theorem for limits
-arccosec, arcsec, arccot as functions; derivatives of inverse trig
functions (the most important ones are in the antiderivatives tables)
-logarithmic differentiation
-hyperbolic functions
-the mean value theorem
-partial fractions with repeated irreducible quadratic factors
2 December 2008 Help during
the exam period. The Math Help Centre will be running; check
its website for hours.
I will be holding office hours at the following times.
M 11:30-12:30, Th 10:30-12:30 until Dec 15
You may also consult the Math 1A instructors.
Dr T. Klein: M 15:30-16:30, Th 13:30-14:30 until Dec 15
Dr J. Marikova: T Dec 2 10:30-11:30, F Dec 5 11:00-12:00
Review Sessions (joint with Math 1A) will be held as follows (rooms
will be posted soon) (you may attend any or all of the review sessions)
Dr D. Haskell: Monday Dec 15 13:30-15:30
Dr T. Klein: Friday Dec 12 13:30-15:30
Dr J. Marikova: Tuesday Dec 16 13:30-15:30
These sessions will be student-driven - come prepared with questions
that you want answered.
