to the practice problems. All the instructors except Dr Conlon will be
keeping their regular office hours until the exam. Dr Conlon is away
this week, but will hold office hours next week on Dec 17 and 18 from
12 until 2. Don't forget the review sessions on Sunday and Monday
(Sanjay and Michelle are giving the Monday ones).
4 December
2012 Here are some practice
problems for your entertainment during the next two weeks. Make
sure to review the old exams and assignments -- you never know, a
question might be recycled! And review the previous collections of
practice problems for the material in the first two-thirds of the
course. Review sessions will be held
Sunday Dec 16 12-2 and 2-4 in ITB 137 and correction: those times are 10-12 and
12-2
Monday Dec 17 4-6 and 6-8 in ITB 137.
4 December
2012 The final exam is on Wednesday,
December 19 at 9am, for three hours. Check the registrar's timetable to
see which room
you should go to. DO NOT FORGET your student ID! The exam will cover
all the material of the course, with emphasis on the most recent
material which has not yet been examined. As usual, calculators are not
allowed. The exam is multiple choice. There are two parts. The first
part has ten questions worth one point each. The second part has twenty
questions worth 2 points each. Here is a practice
exam for you to use for preparation (answer key is at the end). A
collection of practice problems will be posted shortly.

If you have any concerns about the
grading of the exam (for example, you want to see your scantron card)
visit Dr Haskell during office hours.
Two calculators were left in the exam
rooms (why were they even out?). See Dr Haskell to claim.
7 November 2012 Nominations
now open for MSU teaching awards! Which 1A/1ZA instructor or teaching
assistant will get the most nominations? Express your opinion at this link.

2 November 2012 Chris
McLean has posted a correction to a
mistake that was made in the lecture this morning. Click here.
The answer key to the set of practice problems is at the end of the
file posted on Oct 30. Question 9 on the practice midterm is corrected
in the file below.
31 October 2012 Test room
information now available here.
The alternate write time is now 17:30--19:00, to accommodate
engineering students with a physics midterm the same evening.
30 October
2012 Practice
problems for the upcoming midterm. An answer key will be posted
shortly. A practice
exam (answer key at the end). Review sessions for the midterms are
organized through the Math Help Centre, and are scheduled on Tuesday
and Wednesday afternoon/evening of next week. Review sessions will
focus on the practice problems, but bring your own questions as well.
29 October
2012 Second
test coming up in less than two
weeks! Thursday, 8 November, in the evening, for 90 minutes. If you
have
a scheduled conflict (lecture or exam in another course, highschool
commencement, religious occasion, ... ) go to the lab website here,
to request to write at the alternate time, which is Wednesday, 7
November at 17:45. The test rooms will be posted shortly, along with
review problems and a practice test.
The test covers sections 3.11,
4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, 4.7, 4.9, Appendix E, 5.1, 5.2 and Maple Labs
2 and 3. You will not be tested explicitly on the material of the first
midterm, but of course, you need to know much of this material in order
to do the later material.
24 October
2012 Dr
Haskell's office hours on Thursday Oct 25 are cancelled. Sorry about
this. Try to see me another time.
