General
Announcements
- The final exam is Dec. 13 at 4 pm. Check mosaic for the
exact seating in the Ivor Wynne Centre. The exam
will be 2 and a half hours.
- The
sections to be covered on the final exam are: 4.1 - 4.5, 5.1 - 5.3,
6.1- 6.4, 6.6, 7.1 - 7.5 (Note: the
Hessian and categorizing critical points is not covered on the
exam) and 8.1 - 8.5.
- Regarding complex numbers on the final, although the use of
complex number is integral to understanding the material of the
course, the final exam will not contain questions which solely
involve the arithmetic of complex numbers. This material was
covered as review and tested in test 1.
- You
are allowed to have the standard McMaster calculator, Casio FX 991MS
or MS Plus (no communication capability). No other aids are
allowed. Please bring your ID with you.
- The best gauge of the level of the exam is to look at the lecture
notes, homework and practice problems.
- There will be a review session at 1:30 on Thurs. Dec. 12 in HH
109. Please email me questions in advance.
- Dr. Hart will have office hours 12:30 - 1:30 on Thurs, Dec. 12.
- Steven will have office hours 1 - 3 on Wed. Dec. 11 in the Math
Cafe and Jarvis will have office hours 3 - 5 on Thurs, Dec. 12 in
the Math Cafe.
- In
addition to all the questions posted so far this term, good practice
problems would be those close in number to the ones I have already
posted. All true/false questions at the end of the sections
are a good check if you understand the basic notions.

- Z.
- The test will be 50 minutes long.
- The topics covered will be those
found in sections sections 8.4, 8.5, 7.1, 7.2 and 7.5.
